Cowtown Friends is an organization that strives to make a difference in the lives of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control Shelter animals. We are very proud to announce that we have recently achieved a significant milestone in our mission.
We have supplied every kennel at Fort Worth Animal Care & Control North and South locations with a Kuranda bed. These beds ensure that every single dog that comes through the shelter system will have their very own comfortable, raised bed to rest on instead of the hard concrete floor while they wait for their forever home.
Supplying the shelter with beds has been an ongoing effort for us, but we are delighted to announce that we have made three bulk purchases of Kuranda beds. In July 2022, we bought 38 complete beds and 30 frames to replace broken ones. Then, in December 2022, we purchased 73 more complete beds to make sure every kennel at the South Shelter had a bed. Lastly, in February 2023, we bought 150 complete beds which allowed every kennel at North Shelter to have a bed. The total cost of these purchases was around $24,000.
We truly could not have done this without the generous support of our donors who made sure we could make these life-changing purchases. Nor could we have done it without the team of dedicated volunteers who gave up several weekends to put together all of the beds and deliver them personally to the deserving dogs. Finally, we want to give a huge thank you to Animal Rescue Aid, who helped us facilitate these bulk purchases.
The joy on the faces of the dogs as they realize they have somewhere comfy to sleep is priceless. Seeing their happiness reminds us exactly why we work so hard to support FWACC. It is a heartwarming feeling to know that we have been able to make a significant difference in the lives of these animals. And, we hope that our efforts inspire others to join us in making the world a better place for all animals.
